Wenn ich über den einen sage, er käme aus Russland, so wäre das heute richtig es wäre damals aber falsch gewesen. Sage ich über den anderen, er käme aus Jugoslawien, so ist das heute falsch, aber damals richtig. Klingt verwirrend - ist aber eine Gemeinsamkeit, denn nicht in jedem Land Europas führte der Zusammenbruch des Sozialismus zu einer Wiedervereinigung, sondern - im Gegenteil - zu einer Spaltung. Genau hier ist der Punkt , an dem ich mich vorsichtig ausdrücken sollte, denn einerseits würde meine Beurteilung über die heimatliche Lage für die Jungs mehr als oberflächlich und herablassend klingen (ich als Ossi weiß dabei, wovon ich rede), was mir fern läge, also halte ich lieber meine Klappe. Andererseits steckt in diesem Thema für beide Länder eine tiefe Emotionalität, die daraus hinausläuft, dass eine sachliche Diskussion der jeweiligen Seiten untereinander schier unmöglich scheint und man es vorzieht - und das, denke ich, darf ich sagen - sich gegenseitig die Köpfe einzuschlagen. Kein Wunder also, dass Musiker von derartigem Gezucke und Gezerre dermaßen "genervt" sind (auch wenn ich mir über die falsche Wortwahl durchaus bewusst bin), dass sie sich in Westeuropa neue "ruhigere" Existenzen aufbauen möchten. Es ist auch nicht überraschend, dass diese an alten Idealen festhalten, aus einer Zeit, als beide Länder noch eine Gemeinschaft waren und man sich die Hände reichte, anstatt auf einander los zu gehen. Nur in der Gemeinschaft ist man stark, ist man produktiv, hat man die Stärke, Leistungen zu vollbringen, die sich aus weltpolitischem Sichtweisen heraus durchaus sehen lassen können, wie die russische Antwort auf die amerikanische "Columbia" oder "Challenger" seinerzeit, nämlich die Shuttles "Energija" und "Buran". Die beiden Musiker haben sich diesen Namen nicht nur gegeben, weil es gut klingt, sondern auch weil dieser tendenziell mit dem Image der Band und thematisch mit ihr zu tun hat. Sie teilen sich die gleiche Leidenschaft zur elektrobasierenden Tanzmusik sowie den Patriotismus zu den jeweiligen Heimatländern. Und da beides mit einer ganzen Reihe von Emotionen einher geht, liegt der Gedanke nahe, dieses mit einander zu verbinden. Entstanden ist Musik, die nicht nur tanzbar ist, sondern durchaus auch zum Nachdenken anregt. Sie räumt konsequent mit dem Vorurteil auf, dass tanzbare Elektromusik wie Trance, Techno usw. belanglos sei und keine (politische) Message habe. Jedenfalls stellt sie sich genau gegen die Veteranen, die genau nach der Frage nach einer Message in ihrer Musik ins Straucheln geraten. Die beiden Akteure möchten (vorerst) namentlich lieber nicht genannt werden. Das hat einerseits den Grund, die Konzentration des Hörers auf ihre Musik bzw. ihre Themen zu lenken. Andererseits wird auf diese Weise ein Gesamtbild unterdrückt, dass zuerst den Musiker und erst dann seine Musik sieht, obwohl es eigentlich umgekehrt sein sollte. Hier ist der Mensch bzw. die Presse unverbesserlich , die sich oft mehr mit den Affären und dem Privatleben eines Musikers beschäftigt, als mit dessen Musik.
Mit der Konzentration auf das Publikum in Westeuropa haben sich die beiden einen Markt ausgesucht, der zwar um ein vielfaches umfangreicher und stabiler ist, auch viel größere Möglichkeiten bietet, Musik zu publizieren, jedoch wissen wir, dass trotz alle dem oder gerade deshalb die Musiker dort Schlange stehen. Seien sie noch so talentiert - ein Durchbruch hat hierzulande wenig mit Talent, sondern viel mehr mit einer gehörigen Portion Glück zu tun. Spätestens nach Bekannt werden von Bands wie "PPK" aus Russland, "UMEK" aus Slowenien oder "Ural 13 Dictators" aus Russland und Finnland wurde deutlich, dass qualitativ hochwertige und erfolgreiche Acts nicht unbedingt aus Großbritannien oder den USA stammen müssen. Im Gegenteil! Kommerziellere Projekte aus Osteuropa wie "t.A.T.u." oder "o-zone" bewiesen durch professionelles Management sogar Nummer-Eins-Hit-Potential. Aus der Tatsache, dass die genannten Bands eben nicht aus diesen Ländern kommen, resultiert eine Art "Exotenbonus", den die Industrie gern ausnutzt und sich folglich auch und immer öfter auf osteuropäische Produktionen konzentriert. Man kann also davon ausgehen, dass das Duo durchaus Chancen hat - und seien sie noch so gering, hier Fuß zu fassen. Eine musikalische Visitenkarte, mit der man sich aus der Masse heraushebt, war, ist und bleibt additional auch noch erfolgsfördernd. Vielleicht starten die beiden Trägerraketen "Energiya" und "Buran" irgendwann zu größeren, weiter entfernteren Sternen, als die kleinen Clubs. Der Ehrgeiz der beiden macht das durchaus möglich. If I would say about the other one he was from Yugoslavia it was wrong in the present time but correct in the past. That sounds confusing - but it is a mutuality because not in every European country the breakdown of socialism ended in a reunion but - on the contrary - in a splitting. Exactly this is the point where I'd better watch my mouth because one point is that my assessment about the homey state might seem more than superficial and condescending to those guys (as an Ossi I know what I'm talking about) which far be it from me so I'd better shut up. The other point is that there is a deep emotionality to both countries in this theme which continues in a non existing possibility of a factual discussion between the several parts but the peoples prefer - and I think that I can say it - to smash their heads each other. So it is not surprising that musicians feel driven crazy (although I know that maybe it is the wrong word) about these dragging and pulling in that dimension that they want to build up another "more silent" existence in West Europe. It is also not surprising that those ones adhere to older ideals which derive from an era when both countries were unities and rather holding hands together than to fight each other. Only in a unity you are strong, you are more productive, you have got that power which you need to do operations which are things from a world wide political view to be proud of like the Russian answer to the American "Columbia" or "Challenger" at that time - these were the shuttles "Energiya" and "Buran". Both musicans did not only give themselves this name because it sounds good but also because it deals with the image of the band tendentious and thematically. They both share the same passion to the electronically based dance music and the patriotism of their several countries. Because both things deal with a lot of emotionality the thought is near to unite both passions. Music was developed which is not only danceable but also stimulates to think about. It consequently cleans up with the prejudice that danceable electro music like trance, techno etc. was unimportantly and had no (political) message. Anyway it ranks against those veterans who becomes embarrassed by these questions about a message in their music.
The two actors don't like to be mentioned by their names (in the meantime). The first reason for it is to lead the concentration of a listener to their music and to their themes. Another point is that they oppress an imagination this way which point of view is to the musician for first than to the music only for second although it actually should be turned around. The mankind and the press who is more occupied with the musician's affairs and private live than with his music are unchangeable in this point. With the concentration on the audience in West Europe they chose a market which is even bigger and more stable and surely gives them more possibilities to advertise music somehow but we all know that musicians queue up there although and therefore. They might be talented as they want to - a breakthrough doesn't usually deal with talent in this country but more than ever with a pretty portion of luck. At the latest after becoming known of bands like "PPK" from Russia, "UMEK" from Slovenia or "Ural 13 Dictators" from Russia and Finland they realised that successful acts of high quality needn't come from Great Britain or USA. On the contrary! Commercial projects with a professional management like "t.A.T.u." or "o-zone" even demonstrated No.-One-Hit-Potential. From the fact that the mean bands don't come from those countries results a kind of "strangers bonus" which the industry loves to utilize and concentrates on East European bands more and more often. So you can do an inference that the duo has surely chances - may it be very very little - to gain a footing in here. A musical visiting card with that you can emphasize out of the crowd was is and will be additional to success. Might be that these both shuttles "Energiya" and "Buran" start up to bigger and farer stars than the little clubs. The ambition of the twosome makes it surely possible.
