StoneCut ist ein 30 Jahre junger Drum'n'Bass Producer und DJ aus Osnabrück.
Ich begann meine musikalische Laufbahn etwa 1986 mit ersten Versuchen auf dem Plattenspieler meiner Eltern. Als ich dann das X-te neue System mitsamt Nadel unter den elterlichen Technics gebastelt hatte und dieses auch schon wieder den Geist aufgab, platzte meinem Vater der Kragen: Kratzverbot !
Fortan wurde das Taschengeld gespaart und auf alles verzichtet, dass nicht mehr unbedingt nötig war bis ich mir letztendlich dann zwei Technics 1210 MKII mitsamt Mixer und Kopfhörer und Platten zulegen konnte und diese auch viel Verwendung fanden.
1995 begann dann der Einstieg in das computergetützte Komponieren auf einem Pentium I mit 66MHz, den die Freundin meines besten Freundes von damals für Studienzwecke gekauft hatte. Magix Music Maker 1.0 war das Produkt der Stunde. Später kam dann Samplitude bis dann irgendwann zuerst mit Logic und dann mit Cubase das ernsthaftere Musik machen begann.
Erst etwa 1997 konnte ich mir meinen ersten eigenen PC kaufen (C-64 zählt ja nicht), kurz darauf ein passendes Modem, dann eine ISDN-Leitung. Langsam wurden die Produktionen besser. Der erste brauchbare Song aus dieser Zeit ist ein Remix von Missy Elliott's «Sock it 2 Me».
Über die Jahre wurde die Hardware natürlich immer etwas verbessert aber bis heute ist alles ziemlich Ghetto hier im StoneCut Studio.
Im Laufe des Jahres 2004 lernte ich dann pH und die Fedupfaction Crew kennen, welche mir viel Kraft gegeben haben meine Produktionen voran zu treiben. Ich denke das Resultat dieser Bemühungen wird langsam hörbar in den neueren Tracks.

StoneCut is a 30 year old Drum'n'Bass Producer and DJ from Osnabrück, Germany.
I started my musical career around 1986 by brutally misusing my father's record player, which happened to be a Technics with separate wheels for 33 and 45 rpm pitch settings. By the time I had mounted the Xth pickup system and stylus and already broken it again my father was fed up with the crap and issued a Non-Scratching Warrant.
From now on I saved up all my money and sold everything I didn't really need anymore until I eventually had a pair of technics 1210 MK II's, mixer, headphones and records - which I have gotten much use from ever since.
1995 was the beginning of the modern computer era for me, when my best friend's girl-friend at the time bought a Pentium I 66MHz, originally intended for college work ... Magix Music Maker 1.0 was state of the art for us back then. Later, Samplitude, then Logic and finally Cubase led to some more serious productions. I still regret that Emagic stopped Logic development for PC, oh well.
Around 1997 I was finally able to buy my very my first own PC (I suppose a C-64 doesn't count). Shortly after, I got a modem, then an ISDN line. My productions were beginning to get better. A Remix of Missy Elliott's « Sock it 2 me» is the first actually usable track from that era.
As time went on the hardware and software has been upgraded a couple of times, of course, but generally speaking everything's still pretty ghetto here at the StoneCut studios.
During the course of the year 2004 I met pH and the Fedupfaction Crew, who gave me a lot of strength to push my productions to the next level. I think the fruits of this labour are slowly beginning to show in the newer tracks. Today, pH, Fedupfaction Crew, me (StoneCut) and some others form the O.B.K. squad. Be prepared !
