Weil „Once Upon A Time“ schon 25 Jahre alt ist, wollte ich das Stück noch mal als Reprise aufgreifen. Dürfte kinderleicht sein, dachte ich.
Ich lag wohl nicht ganz richtig. Natürlich hat man mit Anfang 50 einen anderen Erfahrungsschatz als mit Mitte 20. Und so ging das Texten mit viel Reflexion einher. Irgendwie ist es noch derselbe Song, und doch ist er deutlich anders. Was auch an dem Reprise-Charakter und dem zurückhaltenden Arrangement liegt.
Es ist mein erster Song ohne Drums und Bass. Der Mix war daher eine Herausforderung. Ich stand beim Singen ziemlich dicht am Mikro, was zu einem Nahbesprechungseffekt führte. Das ließ sich per EQ einigermaßen korrigieren, aber vielleicht kommen die Vocals noch mal neu.

Ich habe Fredys und Jochens Hinweise beherzigt und den Titel minimal anders gemixt und gemastert. Das Glockenspiel sticht jetzt nicht mehr so ins Ohr und der Nahbesprechungseffekt bei den Vocals fällt kaum noch auf. Schon erstaunlich, was so kleine Korrekturen alles bewirken können.
