Sad eyes
When I was a little boy, my mama one day,
she took me in a zoo, showed me the animals living in cages.
Then I saw that coloured great bird looking with sad eyes.
I asked my mama "Wher did he come from?". She said "From africa".
You've never seen such sad eyes.
Looking straight thru your mind.
In the land where they belong.
Such sad eyes wonna be home.
So I was crying. My mama said "Don't worry."
"After a while the bird will forget the colours of africa."
"He would no longer remember the crying of the animals at the waterhole,"
"wouldn't miss the hot winds of the sahara."
You've never seen such sad eyes.
Looking straight thru your mind.
In the land where they belong.
Such sad eyes wonna be home.
And in the end the bird, he wouldn't go back.
And if you took him, set him on a place down in africa.
Then he will sit there, becoming homesick
of both directions, 'til something is coming along an killing him.
You've never seen such sad eyes.
Looking straight thru your mind.
In the land where they belong.
Such sad eyes wonna be home.
