Text:
1.
What do you see, when you´re regarding me?
Do you see a man who smiles or one of yours with light blue eyes?
When I´m starting to blink, is it what you think, that I read in a smart book? I hope you don´t think, I´m a crook.
And when you prowl out into the night, how can you see without a light? If you then hear the far call of an owl, is it a song for you or just a yowl?
Refrain
So come on now, my little red hairy friend,
I think at least I understand,
You have a kind, bright and pleasant soul,
How I wish, we could go out for a short stroll.
Sometimes I think that you come closer to myself than I could (ever) do.
2.
Do you understand, when I reach out my hand,
To stroke your red-striped hair, it´s the same world that we share
Is your world small or is it dangerous and tall?
Do you think I´m a giant or perhaps a special friend?
And when you´re running through the falling snow, don´t you freeze? I don´t know.
And when you´re out in the burning summer sun, is it hard for you or do you have some fun?
Refrain
So come on now, my little red hairy friend,
I think at least I understand,
You have a kind, bright and pleasant soul,
How I wish, we could go out for a short stroll.
Sometimes I think that you come closer to myself than I could (ever) do.
3.
What do you mean, is the water blue or green?
Are the roses red or pink, you can´t tell me, what you think.
How I would appreciate, being able to translate,
what´s behind your marbles´ blaze and behind your gentle gaze.
And if you beg for something to eat, you know of course, I´m going to feed,
If you start looking so closely to me, I really like to know, what do you see...
Refrain
So come on now, my little red hairy friend,
I think at least I understand,
You have a kind, bright and pleasant soul,
How I wish, we could go out for a short stroll.
Sometimes I think that you come closer to myself than I could (ever) do.
