I heard the bells of the church
(Words and music by Kurt Theurer ©2026)
1.
I heard the bells of the church
I heard the bells of the church
I knew that I was home
But I still felt alone
So alone.
2.
I heard the neighbours’ dog
(About) time for a serious flog
The dog was never wrong
I was working on a song
(And) Time passed by.
Chorus
Long gone days
Now so far away
Although it’s been so long
It’s still enough for one more song.
3.
I heard my buddies shout
Not sure what it was about
I opened to window to see
If it was perhaps for me
Perhaps for me.
4.
I heard the children laugh
For an hour and a half
I knew whatever comes to be
One of them would be me
Always be me.
Chorus
Bridge
So long ago it is
Still the memories
Stay inside my heart
Or in whatever part of me.
Until all memories fade away.
Chorus 2x
