Wieder ein Song aus der Schatzkiste meiner Jugend. Der "Condor Man" war ein sehr guter Freund von mir, der leider nicht mehr unter uns weilt, und dieser Song war schon zu seinen Lebzeiten ein fester Repertoire-Bestandteil meiner damaligen Band(s), damals noch eher bluesig. Nun habe ich einen schönen kleinen Shuffle-Rock daraus gemacht und tief - aber nicht zu tief - in die Klischeekiste dieses Genres gegriffen, aber auch Anleihen bei einigen Helden meiner Jugend (Blackmore! Jon Lord!! Dave Edmunds!!!) getätigt. Es muss ja alles halbwegs stilecht sein ;-)
Vom Gitarrensolo habe ich mehrere Varianten aufgenommen, ich habe mich am Ende für eine Mischung aus Rockabilly (Edmunds!) und Rock entschieden, es passt ganz gut zum Song und hat nicht zu viele Noten ;-) - am Ende gibt es noch ein paar schöne Flageolets, die auf der Duesenberg besonders schön klingen.
Der Text beschreibt eigentlich nur ein - legendäres und inzwischen sagenumwobenes - Wochenende irgendwann in den 70er Jahren, bei dem der "Condor Man" einer der Haupt-Protagonisten war. Ja liebe Kinder, so war es damals....

Diverse Plugins, vor allem Slapback-Echos und andere Dinge
