WalliaN is an ambient and trance componist living in Berlin, Germany. His music is influenced by artists like Chicane, ATB, Jean Michel Jarre, Enigma, Hammock, Tigerforest and more...
Already in 1986 WalliaN beguns to learn music theory and played on a Yamaha Electone, a very big machine and a museum piece now. After a few years, he bought the latest electronic keyboard on the market, a Roland E-70, and begun to animate parties for all kind of associations and clubs. After that he bought the next keyboard in his collection, a Roland U-20 and a Roland Mc-50 MK2 sequencer to compose/program his own songs, because he was fed up from the "standard" possibilities and rythms of the E-70. He was able with this new equipment to compose his own songs/arrangements, what was really great. It gaves him the freedom that you don't really have without sequencer. He beguns to (or try to) reproduce Jean Michel Jarre Songs with his own equipment. It was a very eciting experience for him, because at this time Jean-Michel Jarre was his greatest idol. Then WalliaN has begun to compose his own tracks. However, he was missing good basses and good sounds. After a long research, he finds and bought the Roland D-20. With that keyboard, WalliaN was able to change sound settings like Cut off, Resonance....an important feature when composing electronic music. At the same time came for him the technical revolution in composing electronical music, the Roland Groovebox MC-303. This amazing machine came on the european market. He tried this machine in a music shop and the first thought was: "Whowwww..." - > WalliaN must have it! In 1998 he bought one. This machine was a commercial success, perhaps that's why Roland organized a European Groovebox Contest. WalliaN participated at the constest in France and came in Paris under the 10 finalists! There after a live performance of the own Groovebox song, a jury should decide, who has to represent France in the European final. And who was jury president? Jean Michel Jarre! It was unbelievable for WalliaN to meet and speak with him! It was a great oppurtinity for WalliaN to ask Jean-Michel Jarre to sign his Groovebox! But in despite of this excitement, WalliaN don't won the final...
One year later the same contest was organized and WalliaN decided to participate in Germany and France, and was qualified for both finals. Best result of this great experience was third place in Paris.
In 2000 WalliaN bought a Yamaha Csx-1 and begun with the combination of sequencer and Groovebox to compose some songs.
In 2001 he bought a computer and didn't know it was possible to make music with such a machine. At the beginning he bought Cubasis and VST instruments. This way of making music was more flexible and more simply than working with hardware, the quality of VST instruments impressed him. Then he bought more and more VST instruments, programs like Wavelab, Cubase and some books over digital audio Editing (mastering, dynamics...).
After having produced some songs, WalliaN begun to send demo CDs again and again, but didn't really become the hoped response/feedback. Then was WalliaN thinking, it would be cool when other people listen to his music, and give him some critics/feedback. He founds a music site, www.myownmusic.de, and begun to upload each song he composed. It was a great experience to get feedback about his music. It helped him to get better.
By coincidence in 2005, he discovered Orca records and sents a demo CD, and...WalliaN signed his first music contract! The first album "Harmony" was out on 22 July 2005. The second album "Story of a day", 6 years after, was out in late 2011. The third album "Story of the next day" is out now!
Both last albums are intended to reflect the passage of a day, from the early morning to late in the night. Each track invits you to imagine a moment of this day, like waking up, chilling, or watching the sunset...Simply imagine and enjoy!
