Welcome to my version of an Irish / Celtic traditional called “Irish Lullaby”.
When I first heard a short version of this song done by my friend Alan Johnson (doing the melody with flutes), I immediately wanted to re-arrange the song in an orchestral version and make it longer.
While I started to make it longer, and re-arranging this song, more harmonies came to my mind, and played / recorded all the instruments all over again.
As I am not really a flute player, I played it with a keyboard, and then used all my tools to create the best possible (sounding) flute and tried to maintain the same feel the song gave me from the start.
I listened to different versions (all short) of this traditional, and all were played with Celtic / Irish instruments, but none with an orchestra, so I had to create a new bridge myself to give the orchestra their own space too.
This song touched me so deeply when I heard it the first time, and as usual I started hearing a complete orchestra playing along with the flute, I might revisit and do it all over again, and make it even longer.
I hope this piece will touch you just as much as it did to me, and you’ll experience some comfort and peace of mind as it does to me too while I was making it.
Unfortunately after a server crash in the studio, some of the tracks were damaged, and I had to remake them, which also allowed me to try some other strings and harmonies which increased the dynamics of the end-mix, and I end up making 4 (new) extra harmonies.
I hope one day to collaborate with The Orchestra and a Choir to make this song even longer, as working on those harmonies gave me many more new ideas for different instruments.
After releasing my version on SC, I know many people love it so much, as they shared their opinions with me when they heard it, plus also colleagues at the studio heard me working on it, so that’s the reason why I want to share it with you too, and I hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as I did creating it..
As the original (1 minute lullaby melody) is a traditional, and I couldn’t find a name of the original composer on the net, I’ll release my version as a traditional, re-arranged / re-build by me.
