SMART AND SMUG
I used to be friendly to every living soul,
But all that living is taking its toll.
I burnt my fingers again and again.
I always tried to be a gentleman.
People used to be polite,
Now they´re only sure they´re right.
Out on the street it´s dog eat dog,
Everyone so smart and smug.
I used to have a heart for every bee,
For every squirrel on a tree.
Now I always have a closer look
